Imbalance in clotting mechanisms with Long Covid

Critical piece of research regarding microclotting in long Covid.

Higher levels of Von Willebrand factor with lower levels of ADAMST-13 could explain the association with higher levels of clotting in long Covid.

The closest disease to this is thrombotic thrombocytopenia purpura with higher risk of clots in the body. It can be idiopathic or related to autoimmune disease.

Fogarty, Helen, et al. "Sustained VWF‐ADAMTS13 axis imbalance and endotheliopathy in Long COVID syndrome is related to immune dysfunction." Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (2022).
