Our data suggests that Long-COVID is biochemically distinct from ME/CFS as all 14 vascular transformation biomarkers increased significantly in plasma from Long-COVID patients when compared to healthy control subjects. In contrast, plasma levels of P-SEL, MMP-1, ICAM-1, VEGF-A and VEGF-D either do not change with ME/CFS or are depressed
These patterns suggest that ME/CFS is under the umbrella of long Covid but is not the same disease. Vascular involvement seems to be unique to long Covid and requires more extensive research.
At the same time, be aware that there is still overlap between fibromyalgia and ME/CFS with other symptoms like fatigue and muscle pains.
Re: Diff - long covid vs ME/CFS…. If S1 spike from SARS is specifically irritating to the endothelium, then not hard to imagine more endothelial inflammation in Long Covid vs other causes of post viral conditions.
