The persistence of taste and smell abnormalities for long Covid sufferers in this Netherlands study, stands out as an important area to investigate.

Previously I had thought this related to involvement of the nasal airways however this does not fit the fact that virus is no longer replicating there.

Focused on specific receptors in the gut as a target.
