What are some medium-term risks of long Covid?
Lots of long COVID treatment leads, but few are proven >
There are a few observed risks with long Covid that should not be underestimated. It is noted significantly higher episodes of pulmonary embolus (clots in the lung) and myocardial infarctions (heart attacks).
Why would this occur?
The association with micro clots in long Covid highlights the propensity for thromboembolic events. Based on previous research, this could be connected to higher levels of Von Willebrand factor with reduced activity of ADAMTS13 (the enzyme which helps to control levels).
